This year, you can self-nominate as a speakers for one of our panel discussions and/or submit your own emergent session.

Before starting your submission make sure you are familiar with the OSR formats.

We are also always looking for volunteers to help us with the organisation of the OSR activities. If you are interested to join us, please fill in this form!

Panel Discussion Self-Nominations

Panel Sessions are moderated discussions amongst selected speakers and OSR attendees about various relevant topics, spanning across all aspects of open science practices.

You can self-nominate as a speaker for the following hybrid panel discussions:
9:00 GMT+9 June 24, 2024 (Monday): Topic 1: Open Science - who pays the bill
9:00 GMT+9 June 25, 2024 (Tuesday): Topic 2: Getting started in Open Science
13:30 GMT+9 June 25, 2024 (Tuesday): Topic 3: Many A Little Makes A Mickle - Crowdsourcing for brain mapping

11:15 GMT+9 June 26, 2024 (Wednesday): Topic 4: Changing face of Open Science
9:00 GMT+9 June 27, 2024 (Thursday): Topic 5: Open Science in Asia/Korea
You can self-nominate as a panelist until May 15th (11:59pm anywhere on Earth) through this form.

After this date, the nominations will be reviewed by the OSR team based on the experience in the topic and a diversity of speakers, and we will notify the self-nominees in early June.

Emergent Session Submissions

Emergent sessions are live discussions among a small group of panel members, mediated by a host and open to audience of the OSR. The discussions may cover more advanced topics related to open-science or EDI (Equality, Diversity and Inclusion) issues.

During the OSR attendees can hold hybrid emergent sessions.
This year we offer 5 slots for application. For now, we open submissions to 2 slots, and the other 2 will be open shortly before the conference:
12:45-13:45 (GMT+9) June 24 (Monday) : OSR: Emergent Session #1
17:45-18:45 (GMT+9) June 24 (Monday) : OSR: Emergent Session #2
9:00-10:00 (GMT+9) June 26 (Wednesday) : OSR: Emergent Session #3
15:45-16:45 (GMT+9) June 26 (Wednesday) : OSR: Emergent Session #4
13:00-14:00 (GMT+9) June 27 (Thursday) : OSR: Emergent Session #5

You can request to hold such a session by creating an issue through our github repo template.

The sessions will be reviewed based on their timeliness and interest to the open science audience by the OSR team and we will notify everyone of their assigned sessions in early June.
